Coroner:  Two adults and child died in triple homicide

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office and the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office have released new information relating to the investigation of a triple homicide that occurred on October 9th in the 3000 block of Hoover Avenue.

Autopsies for the three deceased individuals discovered at the Hoover Avenue residence Thursday afternoon were conducted Friday. Preliminary findings indicate that all three victims died from gunshot wounds.

Jim Allmon, the Sangamon County Coroner, has confirmed the identities of the victims as Mhynesha Day, 22, Devione Brady, 21, and Cash Russell, 9.

Over the course of the investigation thus far, police have obtained search warrants for the Hoover Avenue residence and an apartment complex nearby, and identified a red SUV seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Friday, a vehicle matching that description was located around Governor and MacArthur in Springfield. The two females occupying the vehicle were released at the scene. The SUV was towed and is being held for further investigation.

Detectives continue to investigate leads and conduct interviews.
