Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Tiffany Williams — who you may know is a teacher in District 186 — is also a veteran of “The Muni.”

She’s the director of “Disney’s The Lion King, Junior” — which is closing out the season this year.

Williams tells the WTAX Morning Newswatch one might say there’s a lot riding on her show.

“I’m so excited.  I’ve been a part of The Muni since 2000,” said Williams.  “I’ve done everything from park cars and usher, to playing in the pit, and performing on stage. This is my second opportunity in the director’s role. Muni’s ‘Lion King, Junior’ is the first Junior show Muni has produced, and it’s also the first time they’ve had a fifth show in their season.”

If that wasn’t enough, Williams’ all-youth cast is 50 people large, and most of them are first-time performers.

“They are so talented, coachable, kind. We’ve preached that since day one,” said Williams. “There’s no divas out there, but with the level of talent, there certainly could be.”

The Lion King, Junior, has an only-one-weekend run — this Thursday through Saturday.

“Our builders, our painters, costumers, puppet makers have worked so hard behind the scenes. Choreographers, the dancing is phenomenal,” said Williams, who also notes that the music is based on the Broadway production of “The Lion King.”
