Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says the relatives of a homeless Springfield man found dead near a construction site June 18th has been located.

The Coroner’s Office asked the public to help locate next of kin for 66-year-old Michael Satterfield whose body was discovered near a construction site in the 1000 block of North Grand Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:15 that morning.

Preliminary autopsy results indicate Satterfield suffered a fatal cervical spine fracture consistent with a fall. The Coroner’s Office was unable to locate or contact any relatives for Satterfield after investigators checked multiple previous addresses in both the Chicago and Springfield areas, as well as searching available law enforcement databases.

Springfield Police and the Coroner’s Office continue their investigation into Satterfield’s death.
