Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield man is in jail after a drone found him as he was allegedly breaking in to a business early Monday morning.

According to a post on Facebook by Springfield Police, they say Austin Fore, 35, was taken into custody on charges of burglary, theft, criminal damage to property, possession of burglary tools, and criminal trespassing.

Police were called to the 2100 block of South 8th Street just after midnight Monday morning.  A drone had to be used to find Fore, because police say the building was surrounded by barbed wire and heavy foliage, making it difficult for officers to enter.

After a police K-9 search was unsuccessful, police say the drone identified a heat signal later identified to be that of Fore.

According to online court records, Fore is being formally charged only with burglary and criminal trespass to property.  Scheduled court appearances are not yet available.

In April of this year, court records indicate, Fore was arrested in a burglary case, and was sentenced to four days in jail, and 24 months of what is called “second chance probation,” along with the payment of restitution.
