Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Tuesday’s highlight for the Sangamon Mass Transit District team was they launched a newly designed website. New features include things like, report a bus stop, helping the stops stay clean and safe and new updates on routes and delays. The Managing Director of SMTD, Steve Schoeffel stopped by the WTAX Morning Newswatch to discuss all the new features of their newly developed website.

“It started out as just general information, and over the years, as we got more data and more capability, we added maps to it and connections to other smartphone apps and also GTFS feed, which allows Google and other platforms to use our data. This website now incorporates all of that into one sort of more seamless platform so that when you get on there and you look at the maps or you look at routes or any information like that, it’s going to be the same thing you find on the smartphone app, it’s going to be the same thing you find at other applications that use our data. So, it’s all a lot more seamless now.”

What’s new about the website?

We also have some other things on there. There’s a new feature called Report a bus stop.  If you come up to a bus stop that has some damage to it or trash or something like that, you can map it on the website, on a form that’s provided, and take a picture. So, it’s all right there for us. Allows us to forward that to the right department and keep that out of our dispatch office.
So, really it’s more of an efficient operation.”
