Chicago, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Kathy Salvi has been replaced as head of the Illinois Republican Party.

According to a short news release, the GOP elected Bob Grogan Monday to replace Kathy Salvi.  No reason was given for the change, after Salvi was elected in July, 2024.  In addition to being a longtime politician, Salvi is an attorney.

Grogan, a former DuPage County Auditor and accountant, is a resident of the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove.

“I am honored and humbled to be elected as the next Chair of the Illinois Republican Party,” said Grogan, in a statement. “I’m grateful to my good friend, Chair Salvi, for her dedication to the party and her work to build a brighter future for Illinois families. Illinois Republicans are united and I’m excited to get to work electing Republicans up and down the ballot in November.”

Currently, Illinois Republicans are running candidates for statewide offices in the November election, except for Treasurer.  Springfield resident Don Tracy is running for a seat in the U.S. Senate fellow Springfield resident Dick Durbin is retiring from.  On the whole, Republicans have three out of 17 seats in Congress, 40 of 118 seats in the Illinois House, and 19 out of 59 seats in the Illinois Senate.
