Route 10 fatal crash in Clinton leaves 1 dead, 2 hospitalized

Clinton, IL (WAND) – One person is dead and two others are hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Illinois State Route 10 Thursday night.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 10 East and Plow Road in Clinton, according to the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Department.

Illinois State Police and sheriff’s deputies report that an eastbound vehicle and a westbound vehicle collided on Route 10.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:15 p.m. on Aug. 20, the DeWitt County Coroner’s Office confirmed. A passenger in that vehicle was airlifted to a hospital in Champaign.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was transported by ambulance to a Champaign hospital.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification. An autopsy is scheduled, and the crash remains under investigation by the coroner’s office, sheriff’s department, and Illinois State Police.
