SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The kennels at Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center are full of dogs who need homes of their own. With so many homeless dogs it’s a challenge to find adopters and fosters. It’s especially challenging to find homes for senior dogs. Our Dog of the Week is an example of how senior dogs make great companions.

Charlette is eight years old and she is as sweet as can be. It’s obvious this girl has had it rough. She’s likely had several litters of puppies was tossed aside. Charlette is a gentle girl who just wants to be loved. She’s easy going on a leash but she would be just as happy to sit on the couch in the air conditioning and be a couch potato. Charlette will be a wonderful companion for a person who wants to take it easy and enjoy a calm and peaceful life. She’s available for foster and adoption.

If a young and high energy dog is more your style we’ve got the dog for you, too. Please come out to meet them during shelter hours Monday-Friday 10:30-4:15 and Saturday 9:00-1:00.
