Virden, IL (CAPTIOL NEW NOW) – A 38-year-old Virden man will spend 16 years in prison for trading child sexual abuse material online.

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s Office Tuesday announced Jacob Rogers was sentenced after pleading guilty to one count of Class X felony dissemination of child pornography involving children under 13.

He was also pled guilty to 2 counts of Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

AG investigators, along with the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department and Virden police searched Roger’s residence in April 2022. He was arrested after authorities discovered evidence he had shared child sexual abuse material.

Roul’s office prosecuted with Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison.

Garrison said in a news release, “Protecting children against those who would harm them is our highest duty. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with Attorney General Raoul in this mission.”

The Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is an on-going initiative with the Attorney General’s Office and local law enforcement agencies throughout the country.
