Governor to Noem: Don’t let the door hit you

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Even though news of President Donald Trump firing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem broke moments before his news conference in Springfield, Gov. JB Pritzker (pictured) had a ready reaction.

“She shouldn’t let the door hit her on the way out,” Pritzker responded – to the first question of his news conference Thursday. “That’s, frankly, not too soon. I hope that her replacement, who I guess was named at the same time, does a better job. It’s a pretty low bar, frankly. We saw shootings, we saw breaking the law, we saw corruption under Kristi Noem. I’m not sure you could do worse.”

President Trump’s nominee to succeed Noem is U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.).

Once the U.S. Supreme Court declared Trump’s tariffs to be illegal, Pritzker demanded refunds of $1,700 per Illinois family. “When is Donald Trump going to do the right thing and make sure that people get those checks?” Pritzker asked Thursday. “It doesn’t appear he gives a darn about that, and, in my view were going to have to make sure that we’re continuing to press the Congress to pass a law, because that seems to be the only way to get it done.”

Pritzker was in Springfield to sign the final beam of the nearly-complete transportation hub north of the Sangamon County Complex.
