Explosion causes damage at ADM in Decatur

Decatur, IL (WAND TV) — No one was hurt after an explosion at an elevator at ADM in Decatur.

A spokesperson from ADM tells WAND News that employees at the processing complex began investigating a potential smoldering event at an elevator around 6:30 a.m.

Operations were shut down and the elevator was evacuated.

Around 7:30 a.m. an explosion happened at one of the elevators.

ADM officials say, there was some damage to the structure. Officials are assessing the damage and investigating the cause.
