Springfield, IL (WAND)  – One of two former LifeStar ambulance workers charged with killing Earl Moore Jr. in 2022 was sentenced to 24 months’ probation on Tuesday.

Peter Cadigan must serve 100 hours of community service and is not allowed to work as a healthcare worker.

Cadigan also received 180 days in the Sangamon County Jail, but will not serve the sentence due to credit for time served, and will be a convicted felon.

He previously pleaded guilty in April to a charge of involuntary manslaughter, after facing a first-degree murder charge.

Cadigan, along with Peggy Finley, was arrested in January 2023 in connection with Moore’s murder after he had been strapped face-down on a stretcher, resulting in his death.

An autopsy found Moore had died from compressional and positional asphyxia caused by being restrained in a prone position.
