Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Customer Service jobs are all over Springfield; however, the job market is fluctuating. To help that Michael Thomas, the board president of the Central Illinois Customer Service Association, was a guest on the WTAX Morning Newswatch to discuss their October guest speaker event.

“The Central Illinois Customer Service Association, we celebrated our 10th year anniversary last year. We’re a group of local business professionals, we’re all volunteers, and we come together, we do six or eight events a year, and we just really work hard to raise the bar of customer service in Springfield.
Our tagline is to make Springfield the friendliest city in the state. We do that by educational programs, professional development opportunities. Probably the two things we’re best known for is bringing national keynote speakers into the area, and then we also have a WOW Award,” which is sponsored and supported by CapitolCityNow.

In the world of customer service, whether you are the customer, or you’re the one serving. there is one thing in common, we are all human.

We never know what people are going through, right? You know, they come in, they try to put the smile on at work, but we don’t know what their home life’s like or what their finances are like or did they have to take the bus or walk to work?
So, yeah, I think that’s vitally important to, you know, just remember, people are going through things, and if you can offer them a smile or thank you or, hey, I hope your day gets better, that’s customer service.”

October 8th, John McHugh will be in town for “Purpose and Compassion at work” a guest speaker event hosted by the Central Illinois Customer Service Association.
