Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The voice you’ve heard telling us what is happening in Springfield on a monthly basis is moving on from her city job.

Amy Beadle tells the WTAX Morning Newswatch Wednesday is her last day with Visit Springfield after eight years.

“I’m so blessed.  I’ve had a great run.  It’s time to move on to a new challenge,” said Beadle.

Beadle declines to publicly say just yet what she will be doing. She says she had planned to retire at some point, until the new undisclosed opportunity came up.

But, in the meantime, she’s happy to tell you about the plethora of events going on in the city in September.  And that starts on Labor Day weekend, which may be a bit bigger than normal.

“Not only do we have the Springfield Mile going on, make sure to get out to the fairgrounds for that, then brought back is the Springfield Beer and Oyster Festival,” said Beadle.  “It’s the ‘FEZtival’ this year, because the Ansar Shriners have taken that on — their lot at the Shrine downtown…there’s also a ‘Bacon and Blues’ festival going on at The Railyard.”

There are a number of events going on in-between, but the month will culminate with the 25th year of the Mother Road Festival, featuring cars, food, and live entertainment.

More information is available on all of them at the Visit Springfield website.
