Arrest made in Jacksonville shooting death

Jacksonville, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Police in Jacksonville says an arrest has been made in connection with a shooting Saturday night that left one woman dead.

According to a news release, Jacksonville Police say they arrested Marissa Teubner, 23, Sunday on charges of Homicide-First Degree, and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.  She’s jailed in Morgan County pending the filing of formal charges and a court appearance.

Police went to a location on West Chambers Avenue prior to 6:00 p.m. Saturday on a report of shots fired.

Marcquila Harris, 31, was found there and taken to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police say they worked through the night to identify a shooting suspect, leading to Sunday’s arrest of Teubner.

Authorities referred to the shooting as an isolated incident.
