Phoenix Center holds ribbon cutting

The Phoenix Center, a community-based outreach aimed at providing services to Springfield’s LGBTQ+ residents, held a ribbon cutting ceremony at its newest location at 704 S. Dirksen Parkway.

City officials, clients, staff and interested citizens gathered for the event which allowed folks to get a tour of the refurbished building.

Director Jonna Cooley says the Phoenix Center’s newest location will expand the services offered such as HIV and STD testing, supplies and information on safe sex, and assistance with safe drug use, fair housing and employment opportunities.
