It was Science Day Friday at the Illinois House Revenue Committee, as lawmakers learned about quantum computing!

“This is a huge race — and it is a race,” said Preeti Chalsani of the Chicago Quantum Exchange. “It is really crucial that we make sure we as a region have a leadership role to play in this industry.”

State Rep. Steve Reick (R-Woodstock) is not totally on board.

“We’re dealing in a science that could take us to a very dark place,” Reick said. “The combination of quantum computing and artificial intelligence — artificial intelligence is already showing us that we are taking the humanity out of humans by replacing it with machines.”

Reick’s main question: Where are we going with all this?
