Moving Drama

Sooooooo, after eight years, we are moving to a new house.  Eight years of toys, furniture, clutter and memories boxed up and carried over to a new chapter in our lives.   An opportunity for growth, new memories and projects that will bring our family closer.  Yeah, that’s how I look at it on a good day. On a stressful day I am thinking “Good God, I never want to do this again!!!!”

I’m not the only one. Our elderly cat has been so miffed at all the changes and the rapidly emptying rooms that she ran away this weekend. We did not find her till Monday night.  How long can a 17 year old cat survive “on the streets”? Less than 48 hours is the answer.  Once the boys found her a few houses away, they scooped her up and brought her inside.   She drank water for about 5 minutes straight, threw it up, then drank for another 10 minutes.  She needed to rest after that, because for a cat that spends most of the day sleeping, she definitely over-exerted herself.

This will all be worth it in two more weeks.  We can do this! I can’t find my favorite jeans and  I don’t know where the hair dryer is, but I will keep my eye on the prize!
