Dina & DJ Blake

Keep Reaching for the Stars

This one got me.  Casey Kasem passing away last week closed a chapter on my childhood fascination with radio.  I knew I wanted to be a dj from the time I was little, and Casey was a weekly part of my life.  I vividly remember listening to his countdown and taping songs off my radio onto a cassette. (google it, youngsters.) Even now, when I hear his voice it fills me with warm fuzzies and nostalgia.  It’s sad his last days were fodder for tabloids and there was less talk about his impact on media and more talk about his wife and kids fighting over his last wishes.  For those of us who remember when Casey Kasem played the hottest songs in the nation, then made an appearance on our Saturday morning cartoon schedule as Shaggy, he will be missed.kasem1 (1)
